American Legion Post 392 will have a hamburger and hot dog dinner fundraiser with the Rock Creek Coon Club on Bowman Road in Dudley Shoals starting at 4 p.m. There will be a raffle, and the grand prize is a Henry .44-caliber Magnum rifle. Tickets are $5 or three for $10 and may be purchased at Computer Stuff in the Fairway Shopping Center in Hudson behind the Post office.
Robin’s Nest Children’s Advocacy Center of Caldwell County will hold a “Swing into Spring Featuring Dancing with Caldwell Stars” watch party at Cedar Rock Country Club from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Tickets are $30 each and include dinner. Organizations chosen to receive funds must be a health and human service 501©3 nonprofit agency; serve Caldwell County residents; practice nondiscrimination; have demonstrated the capability to deliver assistance to Caldwell County residents; and must have a voluntary board. The Zacks Fork Trail Run to support Communities in Schools of Caldwell County is being held virtually this year May 1-8. You can sign up to run a 5k on Zacks Fork Trail, or you can sign up to run or walk a 5k anywhere. Registration is $25 through April 28 and includes a T-shirt. The inaugural Spring FarmFest & Artisan Fair will be at Catawba Farms in Newton noon-6 p.m. The event features artisans from around the region, food and beverage vendors, and live music on a 34-acre historic farm. The Guardian Ad Litem program is seeking volunteers in Caldwell County. The Guardian Ad Litem program works with children up to 18 who are court-involved due to abuse or neglect. There are approximately 80 children in Caldwell County who need a volunteer to advocate and be their voice in court. Volunteers are trained and work with a program supervisor, who supports and guides them as they advocate for the children they represent. Training will be conducted May 18 through June 29.
