A 25th county resident has died of COVID-19, according to a press release.

The person was over the age of 75 and had other health problems, the press release said. They were not hospitalized.

Fourteen COVID-19 cases were reported on Friday. Four involve residents in the 28645 ZIP code, nine in the 28630 ZIP code, and one in the 28606 ZIP code. Three of the people are under the age of 17; six are between 25 and 49, and five are between 50 and 64.

The county has had a total of 1,558 confirmed cases, and 953 have recovered. There are 580 active cases of COVID-19 in the county.

Twenty-four county residents are currently hospitalized for the virus.

In Catawba County, 35 more cases were reported. There have been a total of 2,802 confirmed cases, but 2,546 have recovered from the virus. Forty-nine people have died, and 10 are currently hospitalized.

In Burke County, there have been 2,160 confirmed cases, but 1,875 have recovered. Eight people are hospitalized, and 39 have died.
