CHARLOTTE — A Gastonia man with a felony record was sentenced to more than four years in federal prison for having a gun that was reported stolen in Caldwell County.
Samuel Lamont Harris Sr., 28, was arrested March 30, 2019, in Lincoln County, where an N.C. Highway Patrol trooper pulled him over. Harris’ driver’s license had been suspended.
During the traffic stop, a loaded gun was found between the center console and the passenger side seat of the vehicle, according to a press release.
Investigators eventually found that the gun had been reported stolen in November 2018 in Caldwell County.
Harris pleaded guilty in September in U.S. District Court to possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He was sentenced Thursday to four and a half years in prison, followed by three years of supervised release.
