A cow lies in a pasture along Zacks Fork Road on a cold rainy and snowy Monday in Lenoir. Although folklore holds that cows lie down when it's going to rain (or snow), there's no scientific evidence of that. And the Farmer’s Almanac says, “Cows lying down in a field more often means they’re chewing their cud rather than preparing for raindrops.”
