A-1 Pest Control in Lenoir is sponsoring

a month-long campaign, “A-1 Walks 5 for

ALS,” to raise awareness about Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, often referred to as Lou Gehrig’s disease, a nervous system disease that weakens muscles and impairs physical functioning. Supporters are asked to join the A-1 Walks 5 for ALS Facebook event page, or check out the team page on the ALS Foundation’s website, and walk 5 miles throughout the month of May to honor the 5,000 people a year who develop ALS. Bruce Roberts, president of A-1, noted that his mother, Peggy Roberts, began experiencing symptoms of ALS in her late 50s, and the condition was diagnosed in her 60s.
