LENOIR — Radford Thomas, director of public utilities for the city of Lenoir, said this past weekend’s water boil advisory was a standard precaution.
“Due to increased rain, we were experiencing an excess of dirt and mud from the rain water,” he said. “It’s advised when that happens to test for bacteria that may have made its way in. When the water gets to a certain level of cloudiness that could be an indication of bacteria.”
Thomas said the results came back negative and stated there were no issues with the water throughout the weekend.
When asked if anyone had reported any sickness he said, “there were no reports of that,” and reiterated the boil advisory was out an abundance of caution.
