A new member of the Caldwell County Board of Education will be sworn in at the board’s meeting Monday.
The school board voted unanimously to appoint B.J. Fore to fill the vacancy after Chris Bumgarner resigned because he had moved out of Caldwell County. Bumgarner was elected to the board in 2018.
Board members discussed the opening in small groups and one-on-one conversations, board chairman Darrell Pennell said.
Pennell announced Bumgarner’s resignation during the board’s August meeting. A person must reside in Caldwell County to serve on the Caldwell County Board of Education.
Fore ran unsuccessfully for the school board in 2020, finishing sixth among eight candidates for three seats on the board.
Monday’s board meeting is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
