LENOIR — A Hudson man is in jail after allegedly stealing a fuel truck and then leading Caldwell County authorities are on a chase.
On Nov. 18, 2021, Foothills Airport of Morganton, reported the larceny of a fuel truck to the Burke County Sheriff’s Office. Burke County detectives sent a photo and information to all surrounding counties and on Nov. 19, Caldwell County sheriff’s deputies attempted to stop the stolen vehicle. The truck’s driver, Sheldon Scott Wagner, led officers on a vehicle chase that ended on the Blue Ridge Parkway in Watauga County.
Wagner was taken into custody by the Watauga County Sheriff’s Office and charged with felony flee to elude arrest and assault with a deadly weapon on a government official.
Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office also charged Wagner with felony flee to elude arrest.
Burke County Sheriff’s Office detectives charged Wagner for larceny of the fuel truck. Wagner was under probation supervision and Burke County Probation issued a felony probation violation charge.
Wagner was transported to the Watauga County Magistrate’s Office and given a $60,000 secured bond and placed in the custody of the Watauga County.
