Harry Williams

Mr. Harry George Williams Jr., age 78, of Beecham Court, Mitchellville, Maryland, departed this life on Friday, February 24, 2023 at Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, Maryland. He was born December 4, 1944 in Caldwell County to the late Harry George Williams, Sr., and Mildred Dula Williams. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Mildred Williams Battle, Joan McDaniel, and Lt. Colonel Donna Williams (US Air Force); and two brothers, Edward, and Emmanuel Williams.

Mr. Williams was of the Methodist faith and a member of New Covenant United Methodist church, formerly Smith Memorial United Methodist Church. He attended church at St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Washington, DC where he enjoyed playing his trumpet at many services. He was a graduate of Freedman High School, Lenoir, NC, Class of 1963, and joined the United States Army where he served from 1967-1970 in the Signal Corps and Special Services. He continued his education at North Carolina Central University, Durham, NC, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Instrumental Music in 1972 and a Master’s degree in Public School Administration in 1975 which after he started his career in the District of Columbia Government. His professional experience includes, developing and conducting managerial and supervisory training for all levels of employees in the District of Columbia Government, developed and taught training courses for the District of Columbia Metropolitan Police Department-Maurice Turner Institute of Police Science, researched and developed material on Manpower Deployment for the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments Police Planners Committee, and mediated cases for the District of Columbia Superior Family Court. He was a certified law enforcement instructor for the following: Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commission; National Crime Information Center (NCIC); Washington, DC Area Law Enforcement System (WALES) FBI Training Center, West Virginia; George Washington University College of Professional Studies/Police Science; and the Development Dimensions
