J.B. Greene, 86, of Lenoir went home to be with the Lord Friday, April 23, 2021, at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care- Lenoir. He was born Feb. 2, 1935, in Wilkes County to the late Ralph and Effie Greene. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by four sisters, Infant Patricia Greene, Betsy Greene, Jeanette Greene, and Doris Sanders.
Mr. Greene was a member of Hibriten Baptist Church and loved his Lord. He was employed with Broyhill Furniture as well as Fairfield Chair, both of which he worked for many years. J.B. was a skilled woodworker and good with his hands. He was strong, hardworking, and took great pride in providing for his family. He will be remembered for the unwavering love he had for his family, the care he had for all things, especially animals, and his strong and humble personality.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 60 years, Margie Sutton Greene of the home; one daughter, Patty Greene and husband Ricky of Lenoir; one son, Zyndall Greene and wife Tammie of Lenoir; four beloved grandchildren, Brandon Greene and fiancée Beth, Nathanael Greene and fiancée Brittany, Tiffany Abernathy and husband David, and Joshua Greene and wife Amber; one great-grandchild, Harper Abernathy; four brothers, Wayne Greene of Wisconsin, Horace Greene of Colorado, Donald Greene of Chicago, and Larry Greene and wife Pat of Boone; two sisters, Vivian Carr and husband Roger of Texas, and Patsy Greene of Virginia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service to honor the life of J.B. will be held Tuesday, April 27, 2021, at 11 a.m. at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home Chapel conducted by the Rev. Douglas Cox and the Rev. Benny Greene. Interment will immediately follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens of Lenoir.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
Serving as pallbearers will be Brandon Greene, Nathanael Greene, Joshua Greene, Ricky Greene, Jordan Deroast, and Bradley Greene.
Due to COVID-19, face masks and social distancing will be required.
