James Vernon “Roger” Harper, 69, of Lenoir was called home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Jan. 30, 2021, at Salisbury VA Hospital, Salisbury.
James Vernon Harper’s journey began Nov. 15, 1951, in Lenoir. James is proceeded in death by his father, the late James Vernon Harper Sr., and one brother, Dwayne Harper
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Shelia D. Harper of Lenoir; mother, Mary Louise “Tootsie” Harper of Greensboro; one son, Jalill Marcus Richardson of Lenoir; one daughter, Twana Alston-Moore (Pierre); four grandchildren and one great-grandchild; one brother, Russell Steven “Jack” Harper; three sisters, Wanda Faye Harper, Sunny Gail Johnson (Melvin), and Paula Bennett (Maurice), all of Greensboro; and a host of nephews, nieces, family and friends.
James “Roger” Harper was a loving husband and father. James was a member of Dula’s Chapel Baptist Church. He developed a love for nature at a very young age and he loved to paint and repair things. James was a Brick Mason by trade and he was a one of the best painters in the area. He loved helping his family and friends. James enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1972 and proudly served his country.

Graveside service will be held at Salisbury VA Cemetery on Friday, Feb. 19, at 2 p.m. Due to COVID-19, we ask that you wear your mask if you attend the service.
