James Stewart Land, 79, of Legion Road, Hudson, passed away Thursday, Feb. 11, 2021, at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care-Hudson. He was born Aug. 13, 1941, in Caldwell County to the late James H. and Julia Piercy Land. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Joseph P. Land.
Mr. Land was a member, Deacon, and Sunday school teacher at First Baptist Church of Whitnel.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 62 years, Carole Bradshaw Land of the home; two sons, James C. Land and wife Julia, and Anthony S. Land, all of Lenoir; one daughter, Vicki Billings and husband Randy of Lenoir; one brother, John Land and wife Carol of Waxsaw; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and his beloved dog, Cricket.
A graveside service will be held Monday, Feb. 15, 2021, at First Baptist Church of Whitnel at 2 p.m. conducted by Pastor Steve Hedgecock and the Rev. Stuart White.
Serving as pallbearers will be Casey Blankenship, Jordan R. Cornett, Jordan S. Cornett, Haden Land, Danny Billings, and Matthew Griffies.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of First Baptist Church of Whitnel.
Due to COVID-19, social distancing and masks will be required.
