John Douglas Pokrzywa Sr., 70, of Lenoir passed away Friday, Feb. 5, 2021, at Caldwell UNC Health Care. He was born June 6, 1950, in Beaufort to the late Albert Pokrzywa Sr. and Evelyn Conaway Pokrzywa. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Kaye Spencer Pokrzywa.
Mr. Pokrzywa was a longtime member of the Hibriten Masonic Lodge #262 and Lee Masonic Lodge #253 and faithful to his Lodge. He enjoyed spending time with his family and collecting guns and watches. He was dearly loved and will be missed by many.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 16 years, Linda Holman Pokrzywa of the home; one son, John D. Pokrzywa Jr. and wife Lena of Virginia; two stepsons, Jesse Ramsey and wife Lana of Lenoir, and Dale Ramsey and wife Lynette of Granite Falls; two daughters, Maria Mehovic and husband Yaz of Massachusetts, and Amanda Pokrzywa of Raleigh; two brothers, Albert Pokrzywa Jr. and wife Cindy of Beaufort, and Edward Pokrzywa and wife Helen of Stokesdale; one sister, Marian Brittain and husband Marvin of Walkertown; five grandchildren, Matthew, Natalie, and Timothy Pokrzywa, and Ethan and Edward Mehovic; and three step-grandchildren, Isaiah, Skylar, and Kinley Ramsey.
Graveside services will be held at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Nebo, Thursday, Feb. 11, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. conducted by the Rev. Tony McKinney with Masonic Rites presented by members of the Hibriten Masonic Lodge #262.
