Leonard Vernon Woods, 71, of Lenoir passed away Thursday, Nov. 19, 2020, at his residence. He was born June 13, 1949, in Watauga County to the late Vernon S. and Ida Coffey Woods.
Mr. Woods was an Army Vietnam Veteran. He loved spending time hunting, fishing, going to the beach, and spending time at their family mountain house. Leonard loved helping people and enjoyed his job; he will be missed by many.
Survivors include his wife, Pamela Sides Woods of the home; three sons, Steven M. Woods and wife Angela of Kentucky, Brian C. Woods and wife Bailey of Leland, and Cody A. Hamby and wife Kristen of Lenoir; three daughters, Christy L. Walker and husband Will of Sawmills, Angela D. Gragg and husband Jimmy of Gamewell, and Jessica D. Olive and husband James of Lenoir; two sisters, Vivian Fisher of Granite Falls and Cathy Avery of Lenoir; 14 grandchildren, Sarah, Matthew, Connor, Allee, Maggie, Dylan, Josiah, Cypress, Lily, Melanie, Peyton, Anson, Adley, and Eli; four great-grandchildren, Annabelle, William, Hunter, and Janie; niece, Lacey Thompson of South Carolina; nephew, Dalton Sides of Gamewell; and his extended family at the McCreary Cancer Center.
A graveside service was held Friday, Nov. 20, 2020, at Woods Family Cemetery, officiated by Pastor Mike Gragg.
Pallbearers were Steven and Brian Woods, Cody Hamby, Matthew Walker, Dalton Sides, and Lucio Gonzalez.
Honorary pallbearers were Jimmy Gragg, Olin Johnson, Dean Bush, and Ross Winkler.
