Mr. Rodney Edward Reese, 72, of Granite Falls passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2020, at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care in Hudson.
Born Dec. 25, 1947, in Caldwell County, he was a son of the late Lloyd and Ella Guy Reese. Rodney was a veteran of the United States Army and served during the Vietnam War. He will be remembered most for his willingness to help others. Some of the things he enjoyed most were working in his yard, staying busy in general and spending time with his grandkids. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Wilson and Ethel Bolick; and nine brothers, Grable, Toll, Odell, Fred, Gurney, Earl, Dean, Elwood and Dwain.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Janice Church Reese; three children, Amy Frye (husband Michael), Nancy Reese and Bruce Reese (wife April); a sister, Ola Greer; six grandchildren, Caleb Reese (wife Katie), Noah Reese, Jalaney Hendrix, Julius Hendrix, Andrew Frye and Tanner Frye; a great-grandson, Carson Reese; and he is also survived by numerous other relatives.
A celebration of life will be held at Living Hope Church on Friday, Nov. 20, 2020, at 2 p.m. with Pastor Keith Gilliam officiating with full Military Honors provided by the North Carolina National Guard.
The family will receive friends at the church from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. prior to the service.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the family would like to request the use of a face mask and the practice of social distancing.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Living Hope Church Building Fund at 1890 Connelly Springs Road, Lenoir, NC 28645; or to Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care at 902 Kirkwood St. NW, Lenoir, NC 28645.
