Terry Lee Powell, 63, of Lenoir went home to the Lord, Saturday, April 3, 2021, at Caldwell UNC Health Care. He was born April 20, 1957, in Caldwell County to the late Forrest and Shirley Moore Powell. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, Forrest Delaine Powell, Forrest Powell Jr., and Carl Harper.
Mr. Powell was a member of People’s Tabernacle. Terry was retired from the City of Lenoir, where he worked for 19 years. He was a skilled guitar player and played with many music groups.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 45 years, Lynn Corpening Powell of the home; one son, Terry M. Powell and fiancée April of Wilmington; one daughter, Tara Perkins and husband Anthony of Lenoir; three sisters, Pastor Rhonda Scott of Phoenix City, Alabama, the Rev. Kimila Powell of Lenoir, and the Rev. Karen Parson of Lenoir; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one aunt, Alice Dula of Lenoir; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at Saturday, April 10, 2021, at 2 p.m. at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Bishop Michael Sloan. Burial will immediately follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends one hour prior from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
Serving as pallbearers will be Mr. Powell’s nephews and grandsons.
