The family of Tony Allen Woodie, age 66, of Lenoir, sadly announces his death on September 30, 2021 after a lengthy period of declining health. He will be greatly missed by his daughters, affectionately known as Mouse and Ringtail, Christina Elizabeth Woodie McCoun and husband Jared and Victoria Anne Woodie Davis and husband Kenny; a step-son, William Douglas Weaver; a brother, Daniel Wayne Woodie and wife Janice; and sisters, Brenda Woodie Penley and husband Rick; and Sandra Woodie Nelson and husband Neil.
He was the proud grandfather of four: Coby Thomas McCoun, Kylie Aniston McCoun, Cayden Blake McCoun and Eli Graham Davis. He was a loving uncle to Kelsey Nelson, Megan Woodie, Allie Nelson, Lucas Penley and wife Lauren, and great-nephew, Declan Penley. He leaves behind many loving aunts, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mattie Lewis Woodie; a brother, Herbert Edward Woodie; and his parents, Norma Lee Coffey Woodie and Herbert Woodie.
Tony graduated from Hibriten High School and attended CCC&TI. He worked in the furniture industry in several positions in Caldwell, Catawba and Alexander counties, with his final employer being Piedmont Wood Products as plant manager. He was recognized for his extensive knowledge of furniture, even called a “furniture encyclopedia.”
An avid hunter, fisherman, and gardener, Tony sorely missed enjoying these activities over the past couple of years.
The family extends our deepest gratitude to all those who have prayed and provided hands-on help for him throughout this journey.

Funeral services will be held Monday, October 4, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Cody Shew. Interment will follow the service at Laurel Haven Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M., one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Serving as pallbearers will be Kenny Davis, Jared McCoun, Coby McCoun, Lucas Penley, Charles Dellinger, and Earl Miller.
Honorary pallbearers will be Randy Dellinger, Marty Woody, Clifford Woodie, Cayden McCoun, Jeremy Lester, and Lee Ratliff.
