To the editor:

Putting the school board elections on a party basis is not a good thing. Mr. Donnie Potter says this will make candidates better known. This is not true. This would give straight-ticket Republican voters fewer names to read.

Some people have realized that if they get on the Republican ticket they stand an excellent chance of getting elected. Look at the votes Anthony Wayne Street got in Caldwell County for state auditor.

Fortunately, the rest of the state looked at Street's arrest record.

If the county commissioners wanted to really do something for the people of Caldwell County they would change to a district election system so that there would be at least one board member from each high school district and rest would be at-large.
