To the editor:

Every single member of the Republican Party should be ashamed of the laws passed by the Georgia state legislature to suppress voting. They passed one law to make it a crime to give food or water to people waiting in line to vote. Another part of the law gives the legislature the right to throw out any county's vote they did not like.

In the same vein, the Caldwell County commissioners, all Republicans, have urged the General Assembly to enact a law putting the school board election on a partisan basis. Despite their lame excuse, they know this will ensure that the only way to get elected to the school board is to be a Republican due to the large number of Republicans who vote straight-ticket in this county, so there should be some shame there too.
