What being a Republican says about you

Dear Editor,

I’ve been thinking about today’s Republican Party, and those who are proud to show their support of it.

When I say that it tells me who you are, you say I don’t know you (to make sure there are no misunderstandings, you is plural). Have you actually thought about what you are supporting?

Here in Caldwell County, a school board member had to be replaced. Usually the most qualified candidate would be selected, unless that candidate is a person of color, and then you choose the least qualified candidate. And what was his qualifications? He was a good ole boy who graduated from high school.

You support a party who claims to be making it easier for people to vote, unless you’re a person of color. You support a party that has shown their main interest is looking out for the top 1%, and I don’t think any of you are part of that group. You support a party that has shown no remorse in killing its supporters. Their anti-vax stand is killing people ... not just people of color. You support a party who has appointed two sex offenders to the Supreme Court, and the last three are liars by saying they wouldn’t overturn Roe v. Wade. You support a party who is trying to overthrow our democracy. A party who wants to only allow Republicans to win elections.

Now what kind of person supports these and many other things without speaking out against any of it? Yeah, I know you!
