Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute split a softball doubleheader against Florence-Darlington on Tuesday.
The Stingers scored a run in the first inning of Game 1 and added another run in the second to take a 2-0 win over the Cobras. Jada Wilson held Florence-Darlington to two hits but took the loss in the circle. She struck out seven and walked two in seven innings of work. She also had two hits at the plate, while Cierra Martin and Briana Lewis had one hit each.
Wilson stayed in the circle for Game 2, allowing one run on five hits with a walk and two strikeouts in seven innings of work as Caldwell drew the split with a 3-1 win. At the plate, Wilson hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the fifth. Abby Reeves and Lewis had two hits each for the Cobras. Martin and Mackenzie Johnson had one hit each. Ceslie James added an RBI on a sacrifice in the bottom of the fourth.
The first-place Cobras (23-13, 13-5 Region 10, Division II) wrap up their regular season on Saturday with a doubleheader at Catawba Valley Community College in Hickory. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
