South Caldwell claimed three wins in Wednesday’s swim meet against Wilkes Central, West Wilkes, North Wilkes and Alexander Central.

The Spartans’ boys and girls combined for a 132-14 win over Wilkes Central, a 136-1 win over West Wilkes and a 123-37 win over Northwestern 4A rival Alexander Central.

The girls 200-yard medley relay team of Scout Bolick, Greer Bolick, Katelyn Cannon and Jade Moyer clamed first place with a time of 2:20.47. The boys 200 medley relay team of Max Macchia, Chandler Dixon, Peyton Chester and Skylar Shew swam the race in 2:27.44 after Alexander Central’s team was disqualified.

Greer Bolick and Moyer took first and second, respectively, in the girls 200 freestyle. Greer Bolick finished the race in 2:17.78, followed by 2:32.48 for Moyer. Macchia and Dixon were the only two competitors in the boys 200 free, and Macchia claimed first place with a swim of 2:55.01. Dixon finished in 3:08.21.

Scout Bolick and Hannah Tucker finished second and third, respectively, in the girls 200 individual medley with times of 3:04.77 and 3:31.56. Avery Annas took first place in the boys 200 IM with a time of 2:17.09. Chester was second with a time of 2:52.69.

Cannon won the girls 50 free in 28.87 seconds. Kaylee Moore placed third for the Spartans with a time of 32.02 seconds. Luke Powell and Michael Mesa took the top two spots in the boys 50 free. Powell swam the event in 23.91 seconds, while Mesa finished in 26.71 seconds.

In the girls 100 free, Cannon took first place with a time of 1:11.48. Alexa Citrin was fourth with a time of 1:25.22. Annas’ time of 54.68 seconds landed him in first place in the boys 100 free, while Shew was fourth with a time of 1:07.49.

Greer Bolick and Moore were the only two competitors in the girls 500 free with respective times of 6:06.50 and 7:48.67.

Ben Tomberlin and Dixon were the only ones racing the boys 500 free, and Tomberlin finished in 5:09.46. Dixon finished in 8:39.90.

The Spartans’ girls 200 freestyle relay team of Maggie Helderman, Aislin Chapman, Madison Friar and Citrin finished second with a time of 2:26.82.

Scout Bolick and Moyer took first and second in the girls 100 backstroke with respective times of 1:22.23 and 1:25.67. On the boys’ side, Mesa and Macchia finished first and second with times of 1:15.54 and 1:34.36, respectively.

Chapman and Tucker were second and third in the girls 100 breaststroke. Chapman finished in 1:38.13, while Tucker finished in 1:39.87. Luke Powell claimed first place in the boys’ race with a time of 1:12.23.

Moyer, Scout Bolick, Cannon and Greer Bolick took first place in the girls 400 freestyle relay with a time of 4:46.58, while the boys team of Avery Annas, Powell, Mesa and Tomberlin swam a first-place time of 3:49.72.

Boys Soccer Warriors place three on CVAC all-conference teamWest Caldwell’s Brian Silva, Jayco Castro and Jeremy Castellon were named to the Catawba Valley Athletic Conference’s all-conference team on Thursday.

Newton-Conover’s Jesus “Chucho” Mejia was the conference’s offensive player of the year, while Colin Miller of Bandys was the defensive player of the year. Ric Lester of Bandys was named coach of the year.

The Warriors finished their season 10-12 and qualified for the 2A playoffs.
